Friends, the summer is upon us (in the northern hemisphere) 🙂
And here in Sweden, it’s soon “Midsommar”(Midsummer). It’s a lovely ritual that goes long back in time 🙂
Raising and dancing around a maypole (majstång or midsommarstång) is an activity that attracts families and many others. Greenery placed over houses and barns was supposed to bring good fortune and health to people and livestock; this old tradition of decorating with greens continues, though most people no longer take it seriously. To decorate with greens was called att maja (to may) and may be the origin of the word majstång, maja coming originally from the month May, or vice versa. Other researchers say the term came from German merchants who raised the maypole in June because the Swedish climate made it impossible to find the necessary greens and flowers in May, and continued to call it a maypole.
Another tradition on a Swedish Midsummer is to end it with a skinny dip at night. It’s not mandatory to be naked, but many will be completely naked accompanied with an old or new partner after a couple of the famous schnapps.
A funny thing 🙂
When dancing around the maypole, one of our songs is the famous “Små grodorna”, which means the little frogs. The melody of “Små grodorna” comes from the chorus of a military march from the French Revolution, “La Chanson de l’Oignon”. Not many Swedes know we are making fun of the French by singing this song.
Today’s post will be about how you can “decorate” your README.md with lovely custom badges:
Badges are really a nice and informative way to notify what is happening. To add a badge to your README file, you do something like this:

Let me break it down for you 🙂
The first part is the URL to the shields/badges:
https://img.shields.io/badge/
The next and most interesting part is what comes after the slash(the content of the badge):
We_love-Sitecore-e91c1c
Notice how we separate the content with dashes; we have divided it into three “segments”.
The first segment => We_love
It sets the text on the left side of the badge
To add space in the text, you can add _ or %20.
The second segment => Sitecore
It sets the text on the right side of the badge
The third segment => e91c1c
It decides the color on the right side of the badge; you can use HEX or simply by name(like red, blue, or green …)
The last part is the parameters:
?style=for-the-badge&logo=github
Here we can set several parameters, like:
– style => set style
– logo => set logo
– logoColor => set color of the logo
– …
Here you can find out more on how to customize your badges 🙂

*I expect to find a Sitecore logo soon 😉
You can also combine several badges, something like this:
I hope this post will get you started with some serious badge a mania
That’s all for now folks 😊
